What is the International Charities Forum?

The International Charities Forum is a supported network of international non-governmental organisations (INGOs) with a common interest in improving the effectiveness of charities that work in international development. The Forum focuses on key governance and management issues affecting charities working internationally. It is a platform for sharing learning, the exchange of ideas, past successes and implementation experiences.

The Forum works to promote best practice through case studies and structured discussions on issues relevant to INGOs such as:

  • employing staff overseas
  • managing finances globally
  • decentralising support functions
  • reporting to funders
  • managing risk
  • working with partner organisations

Over 50 organisations participate reglarly including ActionAid UK, CAFOD, Christian Aid, FARM Africa, Fauna and Flora International, HelpAge International, International Alert, Islamic Relief, Medecins San Frontieres, Overseas Development Institute, Practical Action, Save the Children UK, Sightsavers International, VSO and WaterAid.

"I attended the HR and IT sessions and loved them for the opportunity to hear new and creative ways of working and experiences of colleagues. I would highly recommend these sessions to people who are interested in being kept up to date on current issues and keeping in touch with colleagues in the industry."  Liz Crawford, Medecins Sans Frontieres UK.
