International charities

International charities forumThe International Charities Forum is a supported network of international non-governmental organisations (INGOs) with a common interest in improving the effectiveness of charities that work in international development. The Forum focuses on support services in today's fast changing environment including HR, finance, IT and marketing. It is a platform for sharing learning, the exhange of ideas, past successes and implementation experiences.

What does the Forum do?

The Forum works to promote best practice through case studies and structured discussions on issues relevant to INGOs such as:

  • employing staff overseas
  • managing finances globally
  • decentralising support functions
  • managing supporter relations
  • communicating across continents

The Forum is open to managers in INGOs who work in support functions such as HR, finance, IT and fundraising as well as managers involved in implementing programmes. Organisations participating in the Forum include ActionAid International, CAFOD, Christian Aid, HelpAge International, Islamic Relief Worldwide, Medecins Sans Frontieres, Oxfam, Save the Children, Sightsavers, WaterAid and World Society for the Protection of Animals.

"I attended the HR and IT sessions and loved them for the opportunity to hear new and creative ways of working and experiences of colleagues. I would highly recommend these sessions to people who are interested in being kept up to date on current issues and keeping in touch with colleagues in the industry."  Liz Crawford, Medecins Sans Frontieres UK.
