Victim Support

When Sayer Vincent were first appointed auditors in 2001, Victim Support was still operated as a federal structure, with autonomous local Victim Support organisations all members of the national body. Since then, Victim Support has changed and adapted to its external environment, and now operates as one national charity. The services have been updated to recognise the use of the internet and other communication tools, but it is still a volunteer-led charity with a focus on the victims of crime.

As charities should, Victim Support had to review the auditor appointment after several years according to its own internal guidelines. As the trustees and managers were happy with the audit service, the best way to bring a degree of independence was to rotate the partner. So Kate Sayer took over from Helen Elliott, and Noelia Serrano took over as audit manager. The timing was opportune – Victim Support needed a review of its proposal to merge all the separate entities into one charity. Helen Elliott used her knowledge of the organisation and experience of due diligence work to undertake this review. Kate has been able to take an objective view on the audit as the changed organisation moves forward.

"Sayer Vincent has always provided Victim Support with a high quality and cost effective service. They demonstrate a commitment to, and understanding of, Victim Support’s objectives and needs as a client. Their practical approach to the audit process, technical expertise and advice has helped us enormously, particularly during the recent change programme and Victim Support’s transformation from a federation into a single national charity."
