Walsingham

Walsingham is a national charity supporting in the region of 300 individuals with learning disabilities across England & Wales and employing in excess of 625 employees. Walsingham and Sayer Vincent have been working together since 2005 through a number of internal audit and other reviews. Judith Miller and the Sayer Vincent team have covered a range of areas from traditional financial audits, information security to involvement and quality.

A recent internal audit review looked at the organisation’s governance arrangements. Having previously taken part in Boards Count, implemented a Governance Action Plan and embedded their risk register, Walsingham were looking for an internal audit review of the governance arrangements. This aimed to take stock of current arrangements, in light of best practice, and make recommendations for the future.

The work involved liaising with a range of stakeholders including the people Walsingham supports, staff and trustees.

“The reviews have been undertaken thoroughly and have involved a wide variety of stakeholders and the reports produced have been comprehensive and have where appropriate drawn on experiences, guidance and good practice from across the social care sector. Judith’s approach to getting to know the organisation and those who work for us has played a key role in the overall success of the internal audit reviews. Each of the reviews undertaken has enabled Walsingham to further develop and progress and become a more effective and efficient organisation whilst not losing our values and ethos.”
