David McGeeney Manager

What has been your career path so far?

I completed my accountancy training in Glasgow with a firm specialising in charities, which awakened my interest in the sector. I then spent nine years in Bristol, gaining knowledge working with another accountancy firm specialising in the not-for-profit sector, whilst also obtaining the DCha qualification.

What attracted you to Sayer Vincent?

They have an excellent reputation as a trusted advisor, and I knew they were the firm for me. Previous experiences of London were limited to working day trips, but the “big smoke” beckoned. Relocation followed, along with getting lost on the underground, trips to various tourist attractions and the astonishment of all the activities going on in the city at any one given time.

What do you enjoy about the charity sector?

I enjoy assisting charities with their financial needs so they can focus on delivering their activities. Undoubtedly the best part of my job is meeting people with a passion for their charities and seeing the positive impact it can make.

Tell us something people may not know

I love shopping for shoes and own more pairs than almost everyone I have met!

What do you get up to outside of work?

I like tuning into a good football match (Glasgow Rangers is my team). I also enjoy good food, particularly a nice Sunday roast along with a chilled pint, which explains the reason for my constant need to go to the gym – although I don’t routinely do this!
