Corporate Tax Assistant – Fixed-term contract

Salary £25,000 to £30,000 per annum pro rata, depending on location and experience

Sayer Vincent is an audit and advisory firm working exclusively with charities and social purpose organisations. We help social purpose organisations become more effective and enable them to be able to deliver more for their beneficiaries.

The services the firm delivers to its clients have been growing steadily over the last few years and we are looking for a Corporate Tax Assistant to support the Tax team during a busy period, starting at the end of August.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking client corporate tax returns to review stage as directed
  • Addressing review points and finalise jobs for final approval
  • Being aware of costings on jobs, working to target and alerting managers to any issues
  • Participating in meetings as appropriate, playing an active part in internal briefing and de-brief sessions
  • Keeping Senior Tax Manager and audit team members regularly informed of activities, capacity and progress on assignments to ensure that time is fully utilised

What we are looking for

This is a fixed-term contract, starting at the end of August until the end of March 2022. You will have completed your ATT qualification or equivalent and have experience in completing basic corporate tax returns with a strong understanding of what is allowable or not allowable. You will be comfortable reading a set of accounts and have a basic understanding of book entry. You should have at least one year’s experience working in a tax department. You do not need to have worked with the not-for-profit sector before, however it is important that you have an interest in the sector. We are happy to share our expertise and train you on the challenges that the sector faces.

We are looking for an individual who can work autonomously, prioritising their own work effectively to meet assignment deadlines. You will have good verbal and written communication skills and attention to details. Being comfortable with the use of Microsoft Office applications is a must and knowledge of accountancy system is a plus.
