What attracted you to Sayer Vincent?
I have always considered myself good with numbers and studied Mathematics with Sport Science at University. In my final year I supported a sports charity in Kenya and spent the year raising money for new equipment. In the summer, I travelled to Kenya for six weeks to train the staff and volunteers in different sports.
After seeing first-hand what a small amount of money and help can do for a charity that I knew I wanted to be involved in the charity sector. I applied for a job at Sayer Vincent, as I believed it would be the best of both worlds, allowing me to work in the sector and use my skills, whilst training to be an accountant.
What do you enjoy about your job?
I enjoy working at Sayer Vincent as I can help my clients, and support them however I can, ensuring they are focused on activities of the charity.
Tell us something people may not know
I have done two secondments since working here – working inhouse within two large charities as both a financial controller and an internal auditor.
Having experienced how finance in charities is run, I have a greater respect for the sector and how passionate the people are within it. On my return to Sayer Vincent, I was excited to share my experiences, not only with others in the firm, but with my clients too.
What do you get up to outside of work?
I am always on the go and can be found playing netball at weekends or allowing my creative ideas flow by making my own clothes and upcycling furniture.
